One Day Without Braces And I Got My Retainer Today

Life without braces is great!  I keep looking at my teeth in disbelief.  Eating was a different feeling and after brushing I kept thinking I forgot something (rubber bands).  Because of the brushing habits I developed while in braces, I will continue to keep my grill nice and clean.  One thing I did notice is that my teeth are tender.  I think it will be a little while before I can sink my teeth into some corn on the cob or an apple. 

This morning when I looked in the mirror I noticed a sliver of light breaking through the front teeth!  Could it be?  Yes, they had already moved!  No worries though, I had an appointment just a few hours later to get my retainer.

Braces Are Off! After 1 year and 2 months Wanna see???

I know I stopped blogging about halfway - what can I say?  I got busy with so many other things in my life.  So much negative things happened this year that I just didn't have the time.  Besides personal pains there was my poor husband.  Long story short he overworked himself, needed surgery, and then when he returned they didn't want him.  After months of job hunting he found something great.  Whew!  That was a major sources of anxiety.
Anyway, that's life sometimes...

Week 27 Update - A Giant Step Back!

It's been weeks since I blogged.  I guess I was just at a point where I was "over it".  Not that I hate the braces.  I was just feeling tired of them.  It's like, can I please eat or talk without spitting or drooling?!  It doesn't happen all the time, but it gets annoying.  Then there's the constant brushing.

Week 21 - My first week with SureSmile

It's only been a week, but let me break it down.  Eating was extremely painful for most of the week.  More so than the first day I got braces.  All wires before weren't bent, they were straight.  I'm certain that the SureSmile wires are moving my teeth more than ever before.  That's a good thing!  That means it's working.

Everything has finally come down to this:  SureSmile.  When I finally chose my orhtodonist, all I could think about was getting the SureSmile wire.  I have been waiting for this.  It's finally here and I am so excited.

Week 17 - 19 Update

I'm almost finished posting all the pictures.  Finally! 

Looking at these pics I can't really see a difference.  During this time I didn't have any discomfort or pain. The last time I felt like that soon after I got a new wire and everything changed.  Speaking of which...I will get my SureSmile next week!  Can't wait :)

Week 14 & 15 Update

I haven't blogged for a while now.  I've been in this funk lately.  Sorry I haven't posted any updates but I have continued to take weekly pictures.  Here are some pics from week 14 and 15.  Interestingly I've noticed I am eating just about anything and there isn't any pain.  Yes!

Week 13 Update & Suresmile Scan!

Week 12 Update & 1st Day Pic

Lately these top back teeth have hurt so bad.  I was beginning to wonder if there was a cavity back there, but then the pain went away.  I've noticed my bite is much better and now I can't really remember what my old bite was like.  I do remember what it would look like when I'd bite into an apple.  I would always gets the sads because the teeth left such a jagged imprint.  It was like hieroglyphics on a cave wall.  This time next year I will be biting perfectly into an apple and leaving a nice impression :)

Week 11 Update & Concerns

I realize I'm a week behind with my update so here is last week's post.  I just never got around to publishing it.

Around week 8 my front top teeth looked amazing.  They were finally straight and turned outward.  Now it one tooth is longer than the other and half the top jaw are at an angle.  It just seems like they are worse!  Is it one of those things where it has to get worse before it gets better?  I know I'm just over 2 months into my treatment, but I'm a little worried.  See what I mean?!
